Silicone Roof Coating — Steak 'n Shake Riverpoint

Project Overview

Roof Condition

This Steak 'n Shake location had a 15-year-old TPO roof that was suffering from a common but often misdiagnosed problem: grease degradation. The animal fats from kitchen exhaust had been attacking the TPO membrane over the years—a chemical incompatibility that makes TPO a poor choice for restaurants. Despite this grease attack damage, our inspection revealed the membrane was structurally sound enough to be cleaned and restored with a silicone coating rather than requiring full replacement.

Evaluation & Approach

Despite the grease attack damage from years of animal fat exposure, our thorough inspection determined the TPO membrane was still fit to be cleaned and coated. A silicone coating provides excellent chemical resistance and creates a protective barrier that the original TPO lacked—making it ideal for correcting the membrane mismatch on this restaurant roof.
