Rooftop Paver Deck Over TPO — Englewood, CO

Project Overview

Roof Condition

A homeowner in Englewood had a flat roof deck off the upper level that was no longer watertight and not usable as outdoor space. The existing membrane and underlayment had reached the end of their service life.

Evaluation & Approach

The existing membrane and underlayment were beyond repair. A complete tear-off and new Versico 60-mil TPO system with HD cover board provided the watertight foundation needed to support a walkable rubber paver surface.

Why This Approach

Scope of Work

  1. Tear-Off and Deck Inspection: Removed existing membrane and underlayment down to the deck, inspected the substrate, and hauled all debris.
  2. Cover Board Installation: Installed Versico VersiCore HD ½” high-density polyiso cover board to create a firm, uniform substrate that supports the paver load without point-loading the membrane.
  3. TPO Membrane Installation: Installed Versico VersiWeld 60-mil scrim-reinforced TPO with heat-welded seams for a monolithic watertight assembly.
  4. Flashing and Edge Metal: Installed 2” x 4” pre-painted metal drip edge at the gutter perimeter and black counter flashing fastened to the adjoining walls.
  5. Paver Installation: Installed 141 Dinoflex NuVista 2.5” rubber pavers in Stone Beige 5L directly over the membrane, field-cutting pavers at the door threshold for clearance.
